Golf Nearly Breaks School Record at Rosemont Spring Invite

HONEY BROOK, PA- The Highlanders competed at the Rosemont Ravens Spring Invitational and broke out of an early season slump by firing the third lowest round in Cairn history on day one at Honeybrook Golf Club.

RESULTS

The Highlanders came out of the gates hot at Honeybrook Golf Club, shooting an excellent 317 for the third lowest round in Cairn history, and the lowest since a 316 in 2010. The Highlanders were led by Stephen Berger who shot a 76 on the afternoon after nines of 39 and 37. Berger carded eight straight pars on the back nine to finish his day and enter the clubhouse tied for 16th place overall. The Highlanders standout freshman Ryan Borrmann scuffled a bit on his back nine, but finished with a beautiful 20 foot birdie putt on the 18th green to card a 77 on the day. Jared Lanchak carded two birdies on the day and illustrated fantastic perseverance to bounce back after a nine on the difficult par 5 12th hole. The sophomore soccer star shot an 81 to notch the lowest round of his career and continue his excellent transition from the greens of a soccer field to the golf course. Finishing the Highlanders near record-setting performance was Mike Boucher, as the senior stalwart shot another excellent round, draining putts all over the course and scrambling his way to an 83. Nate Borrmann made it in with a 92 to finish with the second-lowest round of his career. The elder Borrmann has shown great promise in his first full year on the team and will certainly break through with a low number soon.

The Highlanders will be in action again this Tuesday, participating in the Jefferson Rams Invitational at the beautiful Ace Club in Lafayette Hill, PA.
