Moscow, PA – Cairn University men's golf finished in fifth place out of nine teams at the CSAC Championships this Friday and Saturday with a combined score of 740. The Highlanders improved their score from day one by eight strokes to go from sixth to fifth, overtaking Keystone College.
 
The tournament was played at the Elmhurst Country Club in Moscow, Pa., a par 72, 6,788 yard course. Marywood finished as the tournament champions, ahead of Neumann University and Cabrini College. The individual title went to Brandon Gagne from Neumann.
 
Adam Green finished as Cairn's top scorer over the two-round event, improving from a 90 in round one to an 84 in round two; a 174 total. Mark Huseland was Cairn's leader on day one with a round of 83, but finished with a 92 in the second round.
 
Craig Kikendall was the most improved golfer for the Highlanders in the tournament, as he went from a 100 on day one to a 91 on day two. David Dager also improved his round from a 106 to a 99 over the two rounds. Connor Williams finished with a 101 and 115 for the tournament.
 
The Highlanders' second round score of 366 was their second-lowest round of the year and lowest round of the spring season. Huseland's 83 in round one was his lowest round of the year as well. Green's six stroke improvement came on the front nine, hitting a 47 on day one to a 41 on day two.
 
After finishing 7^th in last year's CSAC Championship, the Highlanders will look to build off of the improvement as they look ahead to next year.
