Elkton, MD – Cairn University men's golf competed in the fall Revolutionary Collegiate Golf Classic, hosted by Ursinus College, on Sunday and Monday where they finished fifth of six teams. The two rounds were held at the Patriots Glen National Golf Club just over the border in Maryland; the course was a par 72 and was 6,730 yards long.
The Highlanders finished the two-day event with a total team score of an even 800. Cairn shot a 403 on day one and a 397 on day two for a six-stroke improvement. Most improved over the two rounds went to
Mark Huseland (Glen Gardner, NJ), who shot a 109 on day one and a 93 on day two.
Adam Green (Zionsville, PA) also improved his score from the first round (92) to the second round (87). Green led the team with his total score of 179, followed by Huseland with a 202. John Michael Stafford was third and final Highlander to improve his scores from day one to day two with a 124 followed by a 117.
Ben Chapman (Egg Harbor Township, NJ) was third on the team with his scores of 102 and 106;
Mike Boucher (Philadelphia, PA) finished as the final scoring player on the team with a 100 and 111.
Taking home the team title at the event was Chestnut Hill College with a total 608, followed by Swarthmore College with a 614. Swarthmore's Nick DiMaio won the individual title with a -1, 143 over the two days.
The Highlanders will next host the University of Valley Forge for a dual match on Thursday, Oct. 22, at Makefield Highlands.
