Cairn University hosted the 2014 Colonial States Athletic Conference Men's Golf tournament over the weekend in Lebanon, PA at the Lebanon Country Club. The Highlanders shot a 723 +155 (358-365) for the tournament to finish in seventh place out of nine teams.
Leading the Highlanders was Josiah Buss who finished tied for 11th shooting +19 for the tournament. Buss shot a sterling 80 to pace Cairn on day one, and followed it up with an equally impressive 81 on day two. Buss' efforts came up one stroke short of second team All-CSAC Honors. Chad Bass was the second low man for the Highlanders finishing in 32nd place shooting an 89 and 91 over the two days. Ian Zang (95, 90), Dave Shaffer (94,103) and Adam Green (103,103) rounded out the scoring for Cairn. Despite finishing 7th, the Highlanders improved on last season's performance in conference championships by shaving 53 strokes off of last year's score, a superb achievement.
The Cabrini Cavaliers won the tournament to claim their fourth title in program history shooting a 635 +67 (319-316). The Cavaliers were led by senior Rob Bass who shot a 146 (73-73) and freshman Michael Rojas who shot 154 (77-77) over the two day tournament. Cabrini has earned the automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Tournament, which will be played on May 13-16 at Greensboro, N.C.'s Grandover Resort.
