Yardley, PA- On a cold, windy day, the Cairn Highlanders golf team played in and hosted their first match of the year at Makefield Highlands Golf Club, finishing fourth out of six teams.
Box ScoreDue to inclement weather Cairn has been forced to cancel multiple matches so the Highlanders entered today's match with tempered expectations. Despite the less than ideal conditions Cairn was able to put together a high quality performance on the links.
Josiah Buss shot a team leading 85 (+13) to place seventh overall for the tournament.
Chad Bass, a promising freshman, tallied an 89 (+17) for the afternoon. To round out the Highlanders scores for the tournament were junior
Ian Zang with a 93 (+21), freshman
Adam Green totaled 100 (+28), and in the first matches of their careers
Dave Shaffer and
Craig Kikendall scored a 116 (+44) and 117 (+45) respectively. Cairn's top four scorers combined to shoot a 367, good enough for fourth in the match.

Eastern University won the Highlander Spring Invitational with a score of 333 and Richard Stockton's Chuck Filler and Mike Lam tied for the individual honors with impressive rounds of 73 (+1).
The Highlanders will play again on Friday afternoon at Rutgers Camden University. Cairn will hope to place better as they had their best finish of the year at Rutgers Camden's spring invitational in the 2013 season.
