A key factor impeding the Cairn comeback was the desparity in trips to the foul line. The Highlanders and in particular Ruth Nelson earned three trips to the line on the night, making 5 of 6. Penn St.-Hazelton, however, saw 12 trips to the charity-spot, getting 13 points from 24 attempts, more than enough to cover the final 6 point difference. Coach Zamroz and the Highlanders will have to improve on getting to the free-throw line in the future.
Alexis Daly led the Lions with 15 points. Tiffany Donnelly contributed 14 of her own.
Cairn is now 0-10 on the season. Penn St.-Hazelton is now 6-5.
On Wednesday, the Highlanders will host Gwynedd-Mercy at 6pm.
