The Highlanders got off to a slow start, allowing Valley Forge (1-20 / 0-14 UNITED EAST) to start the game on a 16-4 run. The visiting Highlanders responded well, going on a 10-3 run to close the first quarter and shrink the lead to 5 points. The second quarter started with 9 straight points from the Highlanders including 5 from 5th year guard
Kailee Sobrino (Vail, AZ / Empire). After this Highlander run there was nearly 3 minutes of scoreless play from both teams before a triple from freshman guard
Olivia Logan (Cherry Hill, NJ / Camden County College) reopened the scoring. Cairn (3-18 / 2-11 UNITED EAST) controlled the remainder of the first half and built a 41-27 lead over the Patriots.Â
Strong offensive play from Sobrino and junior forward
Dezaray Bright (Keystone Heights, FL / Keystone Heights) helped the Highlanders stretch their lead in the 3rd quarter to 59-37. The fourth quarter saw a flurry of shots from beyond the arc by the Highlanders, with Sobrino knocking down a pair, and Logan, sophomore guard
Lexi Cramer (Greenwood, DE /Â Â Greenwood Mennonite), and junior forward
Emily Brittin (Winslow, NJ / Pilgrim Academy) each connecting on 1 3-pointer. After this display of long range shot making the Highlanders finished the game leading 78-50.Â
Cairn will return to action for their final game f the season on February 14th for Senior day against Penn State Berks.Â
