Langhorne, PA - Cairn Celebrates Senior Day before loss to Penn State Berks.
Before the game the Highlanders honored their lone graduating senior, guard
Tatiana Ipri (Mullica Hill, NJ / Gloucester County Christian).
Ipri got the Highlanders off to a strong start by blocking the first shot of the game and collecting the rebound. Cairn (3-19 / 2-12 UNITED EAST) exchanged points with Penn State Berks (4-21 / 3-10 UNITED EAST) going back and forth until the score reached 11-11. Penn State Berks controlled the remainder of the quarter, going on a 9-3 run to finish the quarter leading 20-13. 5th year guard
Kailee Sobrino (Vail, AZ / Empire) controlled the start of the second period, scoring a quick 5 points before picking up 2 assists to help Cairn take a 23-22 lead. Sobrino protected the lead for the next few possessions by adding an additional 3 points. Penn State Berks regained the lead and pushed their advantage to 5 points, but a late triple by freshman guard
Olivia Logan (Cherry Hill, NJ / Camden County College) cut the lead to 2.Â
Penn State Berks came out of halftime hot, stretching the lead to 63-45 by the end of the third period. The fourth quarter saw strong play from the Highlanders, battling back into the game. Cairn cut the lead all the down to 5 in the last minute of the game but were not able to complete the comeback and fell 77-71.
