Langhorne, PA – Cairn comes up short in United East face-off with Penn State Harrisburg.
Cairn (2-14 / 1-7 UNITED EAST) got out to a strong start taking an 11-6 lead over the Lions behind a quick 5 points from senior guard
Tatiana Ipri (Mullica Hill, NJ / Gloucester County Christian). The Highlanders were unable to hold on to this early lead and Penn State Harisburg (7-13 / 6-3 UNITED EAST) took control and ended the quarter up 17-13. Cairn struggled to produce offense in the second quarter allowing Harrisburg to extend their lead by an additional 14 points entering the half 39-21.
The Highlander offense continued to struggle entering the second half with a mid-range jumper by junior forward
Dezaray Bright ( Keystone Heights, FL / Keystone Heights) and a 3-pointer by sophomore forward
Lexi Cramer (Greenwood, DE / Greenwood Mennonite) making up the only Cairn offense in the 3rd. In the fourth quarter Cairn's offense came around. Led by Cramer's 6 4th quarter points with an additional 5 contributed by Bright Cairn was able to stop Harrisburg from extending the lead during the final frame. The Highlanders fell 73-40.
Cairn will return to action by going on the road to play Notre Dame (MD) on Wednesday January 28th.
