Williamsport, PA - Sobrino registers 1000th point in Highlander loss.
The Highlanders kept pace with the Wildcats early, trading baskets to reach 5-5. Cairn (2-18 / 1-11 UNITED EAST) stayed close with the Wildcats but finished the first quarter trailing 12-16. The second quarter saw 5th year guard
Kailee Sobrino (Vail, AZ / Empire) connect on 2 early 3-pointers for the Highlanders. Penn College (18-6 / 10-2 UNITED EAST) out paced this scoring burst from Sobrino and stretched the lead to 37-23 by the end of the quarter.
The third quarter was the best offensive showing of the evening from the Highlanders, scoring 18 points, including 8 by sophomore guard
Lexi Cramer (Greenwood, DE / Greenwood Mennonite) and a pair of triples by freshman guard
Lily Welsh ( Mount Laurel, NJ / King's Christian). The fourth quarter saw the Cairn offense slow down. Sobrino scored a fast break lay-up midway through the quarter. A handful of possessions later Sobrino knocked down a mid range jumper to score her 15th point of the game and her 1000th point of her career. Penn College pulled away in the fourth and won 71-49.
Cairn returns to play on February 12th by going on the road to play Valley Forge at 7 PM.
