Wilcox Leads PBU Past Several MAC Schools and Others

Reading, PA - At the Reading Country Club, Sam Wilcox shot a career best and helped Philadelphia Biblical University best 7 other schools.

The Crimson Eagles finished 4th place out of 11 schools at this springs Alvernia Invitational, including a number of Mid-Atlantic Conference schools. Sam Wilcox (Falmouth, MA / Falmouth) shot a career best 77(+7), only two stokes behind individual winner Chris McCann from Ursinus College.

This marks the third straight tournament in which PBU has had the second best individual score. Garry North (Lititz, PA / Warwick)earned that honor in the previous tournaments, today belonged to Sam Wilcox. North shot an 84 (+14).

While North and Wilcox typically finish 1st and 2nd for PBU, Alex Wallis (Bath, NY / Haverling) shot a solid 80 (+10) for the second highest score for the Crimson Eagles at this tournament. That earned him a 12th-tied place position.

As a team, the Crimson Eagles shot a combined 328; good enough for 4th palce. Host Alvernia took top honors with a 319, followed by Capital Athletic Conference schools Muhlenberg and Ursinus in 2nd and 3rd. PBU finished ahead of the likes of Albright, FDU-Florham, Delaware Valley College, Misericordia, Eastern, Lycoming, and New Jersey City University.

Alex Mitchell (Lancaster, PA / Lampeter-Strasburg) shot an 87 and Josiah Buss (Rochester, NY / Hilton Central) an 89 to finish out the scoring for the Crimson Eagles.
