PENNSAUKEN, NJ - It wasn't their best effort of the year to-date, but the golf squad nevertheless managed to record an eighth place finish Friday afternoon during the Scarlet Raptor Spring Invitational.
Boasting a team average of 332 so far this season, the Crimson Eagles finished 11 strokes off their average, fielding a 343 for the round on the par 70 course.
Corey Snyder paced PBU with an 83 for the day, placing him in a deadlock for 14th overall out of the 64-man crop of golfers. Brian Loesser finished two hits back, rounding the 5,800 yard golf link in 85 strokes.
Garry North chipped in with an 87 while Tim Slothower rounded out the Crimson Eagles' top four with an 88.
PBU finished 24 strokes off the leader and missed out on a fifth place standing by only four swings. Penn State Abington took home the top prize, collecting a 319 throughout the afternoon to better the next closest competitor, Cabrini College, by four shots.
Mike Ryan of Cabrini ended with the lowest round of the day by posting a 75, one of only eight players to clip the 80-barrier.
The Crimson Eagles topped Eastern University, Rutgers Camden, Widener University, Richard Stockton College, and Penn State Berks.
The group will play in their final regular season tilt a week and a half from now during Messiah College's Spring Falcon Classic. Tee time is slated for noon.
