Basketball Team Dropped by 10 on the Road

ALLENTOWN, PA - The women's basketball team couldn't survive a second half Cedar Crest College push on Thursday night, falling to the Falcons 69-59 on the road.

The Crimson Eagles came out in a flurry and jumped all over the Falcons early on. After going down six, PBU managed to piece together a 23-6 run over the ensuing 12 minutes fueled by nine points from sophomore forward Hannah McCardle.

With a five point edge heading into the locker room (35-30), the visitors saw their first half momentum erased early in the second stanza. Cedar Crest opened up the frame by manufacturing a 17-6 spurt, a rough patch PBU was never able to recover from.

The host squad kept the cushion between eight to 14 points for the final 10 minutes of action as the Crimson Eagles failed to slow down the Falcons' hot hand during the back end of play. Cedar Crest scored 39 points while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor in the period, outscoring their counterpart by 15 to secure their second straight victory.

Lizzy Sunderhaus led the charge for the Falcons, pouring in 22 points while muscling down 23 rebounds on the night. Twenty-one offensive snags for the host group as a whole led to a 23-10 advantage in second chance points.

Junior point guard Sara Poole put up 11 points, 12 boards, seven assists and three steals in 39 minutes of play and Haley Weber went off for 19 points that included a career high five triples. McCardle added 14 points for PBU while Lisa Garner added her first double-double of the season, collecting 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Crimson Eagles will continue CSAC play this Saturday when the group travels north to take on Baptist Bible College at 1:00 pm.
