Crimson Eagles Advance

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA - It's nice to beat Baptist Bible College once a year. Twice in a single season is an extreme rarity.

But two times in one week?

Unheard of. That is, until Saturday.

The Crimson Eagles pulled off the aforementioned feat early Saturday afternoon behind a stingy defense and a total team effort.

PBU received point production from nine of 10 players that represented the red and white on the floor during their most recent date with the Defenders as the host squad walked away with their second double-digit win over their counterpart within a five-day span.

Despite surrendering 13 offensive rebounds to a scrappy Baptist squad, PBU used brilliant marksmanship from the field to grit past the visitors 55-43 as the Crimson Eagles connected at a 45 percent clip for the game, a number good enough to signal their fourth best performance from the floor on the year.

Things didn't start off so smooth and pretty, however.

Baptist Bible College skirted out to a 13-6 edge 10 minutes into the contest as the Crimson Eagles misfired on six of their first eight attempts while coughing up the basketball on three occasions. But momentum would soon change.

PBU would hit a barrage of shots the remainder of the first period to break open a 25-19 lead at the intermission. The Crimson Eagles would improve upon their edge in the second half behind saran-wrap type defense that would limit the Defenders into 20.7 percent shooting for the period.

Nineteen BBC turnovers would manifest into 20 Crimson Eagle points for the game as the host squad held a 20-11 edge in buckets off of the opposition's mistakes.

The Crimson Eagles were paced by Dani Norton's game highs of 20 points and 11 boards while Careth Heron chipped in with nine points and six rebounds. Sara Poole added eight points and three assists in the winning effort.

The triumph puts PBU in the NCCAA East Region Championship as the Crimson Eagle will vie for their third straight title this Monday against Valley Forge Christian College. Game time is 7:00 pm.
