LANGHORNE, PA - Heading into Monday's game with Immaculata University, six straight outings had come and gone with the Crimson Eagles being held under a 40 percent shooting clip on the offensive end. Perhaps not surprisingly, all six affairs ended in losses for the red and white.
Looking to buck the recent trend against the Mighty Macs, PBU instead was suffocated into 26.7 shooting for the game - including a 4 for 22 effort in the second half - en route to the group's seventh straight defeat on Monday.
Immaculata adequately demonstrated why the Mighty Macs are ranked among the conference leaders in both scoring defense and defensive field goal percentage as the visitors surrendered just 12 made field goals on the defensive side for the night.
The Mighty Macs also wrung in 28 offensive boards, a number good enough to signal their greatest mark of the season, while turning their edge on the boards into 26 second chance points.
A 44-14 edge in points in the paint for the game also helped Immaculata grind out their eighth win of the year while marking their first triumph within CSAC play. Leah Kuczynski led the visitors with 22 points and 12 boards in an offensive masterpiece that saw the rookie forward finish 10 of 16 from the floor.
Senior guard Dani Norton paced the Crimson Eagles with 19 points and seven boards, and Careth Herron chipped in 15 points and three swipes defensively in 35 minutes of work.
PBU slips to 2-9 with the loss.
The basketball team will return to action this Wednesday when the group takes on Cedar Crest College on the road at 6:00 pm.
