Men’s Golf: Highlanders Top Defenders at Home Invitational, Borrmann Earns Medalist Honors

YARDLEY, Pa. – The Cairn University men's golf team defeated the Clarks Summit University Defenders in their home invitational by a score of 408 (+120) to 464 (+176) at Yardley Country Club on Monday afternoon.
 
Cairn was led by senior Ryan Borrmann (Warminster, PA / William Tennant) who posted a one-over round of 73 to take home medalist honors in the nine-player field. Borrmann carded a front-nine 38, before coming home with a one-under par, 35 on the par-72, 6,422-yard track. Borrmann's day was highlighted by three birdies, including a tap-in after driving the 262-yard par-four 16th hole.
 
Borrmann was followed by fellow senior Brad Garges (Perkasie, PA / Pennridge) who posted a 107 (+35), highlighted by two pars on the 1st and 16th holes. Sophomore Danny Smullen (Palmyra, PA / Mount Calvary Christian School) finished next with a score of 112 (+40), while graduate student Eric Jacobs (Dillsburg, PA / Northern York) came into the clubhouse with a round of 116 (+44). Sophomore Jake Edwards (Delta, PA / Harford Christian) rounded out the day for Cairn with a score of 129 (+57).
 
Cairn will now take a short break from competition before its returns to play in a few months for its traditional spring schedule.
