Box Score 2 La Plume, PA- Despite giving the Giants an early scare, the Highlanders were unable to leave Keystone College with a win Monday afternoon, losing both contests by scores of 4-12 and 9-15.

Box Score (Game 2-Coming Soon)The Highlanders came into this doubleheader with a great amount of confidence after four straight wins, and they carried the momentum on to the beginning of the first game scoring three runs in the first inning to set the tone against the Giants.

Searle, allowed the Highlanders to truly scare Keystone in the afternoon's second contest. Once again the Highlanders started off well, scoring two runs in the first to take another early lead. Keystone would rally back to tie the game, but in the top of the third inning Cairn pounded their way to a monster five run inning.
Trent Fiori singled in the Highlanders first RBI of the inning, also loading the bases for Cairn.
Jon Sanville, the Highlanders next batter, would clear the bases after his single and a pivotal Keystone error allowed all three runs to score. Two batters later Cairn had loaded the bases again, but two straight groundouts would end the Highlanders rally, only plating one of the possible runs. After another two runs in the fourth inning, Cairn had accumulated a substantial six run lead against the CSAC powerhouse Keystone Giants. Keystone illustrated their pedigree by battling back over the next couple innings to retake the lead and eventually win the game, but the Highlanders efforts should not be understated. While Keystone may have swept the doubleheader, Cairn certainly did not go down without a fight.
Lang and
Searle both went 3-5, setting the table and beginning the rallies for nearly all of the Highlanders nine runs.
Cairn will host Keystone Tuesday afternoon to complete their series with the Giants. This series concluding contest will begin at 3:00 PM.
