BSB: Cairn Honors 2 Seniors Between Games with PSU Berks

Langhorne, PA - Highlanders drop a pair of games to Penn State Berks on Senior day.

Game 1:
In the top of the first inning Penn State Berks (8-18-2 / 5-3 UNITED EAST) strung together hits and capitalized on walks issued by the Cairn (1-26 / 0-8 UNITED EAST) pitcher to tack 2 runs on the board. The Highlanders responded in the bottom of the frame sophomore left-fielder Cam Burnes punched a single into right-center to drive in junior second baseman AJ Ramirez (Manchester, New Jersey / Elmira College). Burnes then stole second and advanced to 3rd on a sac fly before coming around on a wild pitch to tie the game at 2. In the top of the second 2 hits to lead off the inning set up the Nittany Lion offense to score 2 more runs and claim a 4-2 lead. Penn State Berks was then able to find their momentum on the defensive side of the ball and sat down the Cairn bats in order in the second inning. Cairn pitcher Tristan Llanes (Merced, CA Merced High School) returned the favor by retiring the Penn State Berks batters without allowing a runner.  In the bottom of the third inning the Highlanders took advantage of a messy inning by the Nittany Lions to score another 2 runs and even the score after 1 hit and 3 HBPs in the inning. Penn Ste Berks kept pouring it on from the plate and built a 10-4 lead by the 7th inning and rode that advantage until the end of the game.

Between games Cairn honored their graduating seniors Caden Hill (Langhorne, PA / Neshaminy HS) and Zach Brown (Perkasie, PA / Bucks County CC).

Game 2:
In game 2 Penn State Berks repeated their performance from game 1 by putting up 2 runs in the first frame. In the bottom of the second inning Brown took capitalized on an at-bat with 2 runners on base and drove an RBI single to left field to put the Highlanders on the board. After this point the Nittany Lion offense began heating up, scoring 10 runs in the top of the third inning and adding on 5 more in the 4th inning. Penn State Berks continued their momentum and went on to win game 2 20-1 in 7 innings.
