Box Score 2 Winter Haven, FL- Cairn Baseball came up short against U of Pitt – Greensburg and Trinity International University, dropping the games 7-2 and 13-7.

In the game against U of Pitt-Greensburg,
Jacob Allen scored a run early on in the first inning thanks to an RBI from
Kenneth Searle. The Highlanders held their own against the Bobcats for the next few innings. In the bottom of the second, not one player from the opponents stepped on base as Cairn pushed three outs in a row. But, U of Pitt – Greensburg responded by scoring 4 runs within the next two and a half innings making things 4-1. The Highlanders were able to tack on a run in the top of the sixth but that was as far as they would go. The Bobcats piled on three more runs in the bottom of the sixth, bringing them to the 7-2 win.
Searle and
Joey Nieves-Markee both went 3 for 4.
Nieves-Markee also took the mound for 5 innings facing 27 batters and allowing 5 hits.
Josh Freed saw 3 innings facing 12 batters and allowing only 1 hit.
Cairn faced the Trojans of Trinity International University today for their final game of the Russmatt Tournament in Florida. Unfortunately, the team was unable to pull out a win against the Trojans dropping the contest, 13-7.
Cairn is now 2-6 overall.
The Highlanders begin their travels home today and waste no time, facing conference rivals Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ tomorrow at 3:00PM.
