Box Score Winter Haven, FL- In the first game of their Spring Break trip to Florida, the Highlanders were defeated 25-8 against Medaille College.

The Highlanders fell behind at the start when the Mavericks of Medaille College opened up the game with 5 runs in the first inning and 2 in the second. Cairn had what looked like a comeback in the third inning when four Highlanders scored making it 7-4. That was as close as Cairn would get to the Mavericks due to an unfortunate series of walks giving Medaille a significant lead into the fifth inning. Mitch Peiffer scored the game's lone run in the sixth inning making it 13-5. It wasn't until the bottom of the ninth that Cairn was able to add three more runs from Kenneth Searle, Eric Hodges and Trent Fiori to complete the game, 25-8.

Eric Hodges scored 2 runs and Caleb Lang earned 3 RBI's, 2 with a solo hit.

The loss moves Cairn to 1-2.

Cairn continues its adventures in Florida with a doubleheader against Beloit College today at 1:30pm and 4:30pm.
