Box Score
Immaculata, PA - A slight Highlanders advantage early on would not hold up as Immaculata University surged past Cairn with 14 runs from the 4th to the 6th inning, claiming an 18-6 conference win in the first game of a three-game series.
The host Mighty Macs took a 1-0 lead in the first before finding their lead gone in the top of the second.
Caleb Moore and
Jeremy McAlack earned RBI's on back-to-back trips to the plate, pushing Cairn ahead 2-1.
The Highlanders would have to retake their lead in the third, 3-2, after Immaculata had tied things up at 2-2, but it would be short lived.
Three hits led to two runs for the Mighty Macs in the bottom of the third, 4-3. As it turned out, the Immaculata bats were just warming up. Immaculata would open up a 15 run gap between the teams, scoring 16 unanswered runs in just four innings.
Cairn would score three consolation runs late on but would fall 18-6 in the end.
Caleb Lang continues the strong start to his career, going 3 for 5, including a triple, with a run and an RBI. Senior
Jon Sanville notched a run with his 2 for 3 performance, while Jeremy McAlack used a double in the second inning to knock in one of his two runs batted, finishing 2 for 4.
The Highlanders will get their chance to earn their second and possibly third conference win tomorrow as they host the Mighty Macs in the return doubleheader, with a 12pm start time.
