Box Score | Game 1
Box Score | Game 2

Lancaster, PA - The Highlanders let slip a late lead in the final inning of game two for a chance to split the series with Lancaster Bible College. Earlier in the day, the Chargers defeated Cairn 7-1.

In the first game, the Chargers came out swinging with six runs, including two homeruns, in the first two innings, helping themselves to a 6-0 lead.

The Highlanders were finally able to string together a few hits in the top of the fourth, with Ben Cardillo drinving home Caleb Lang with a sacrifice fly to left field. LBC's responded immediately in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own to regain their six run advantage that would hold for the remainder of the game. The Chargers claimed a 7-1 win in the opening game.

Jeremy McAlack, Caleb Lang, and Jon Sanville were the only Highlanders to earn hits as LBC limited Cairn to only three hits.

Both offense's were clicking in the nightcap. In just the first inning, the Highlanders had alread eclipsed their entire offensive output in game one, with two runs, which included Jeremy McAlack stealing home, to take an early lead on the road. Lancaster charged back with three runs to take a slim 3-2 lead following the first.

Early in the second inning, Cairn had two runners on base following a walk and a hit by pitch. Following Caleb Moore's fielders choice, the Highlanders had runners on the corner with two outs. With Caleb Lang up at bat, both Moore and Joey Nieves-Markee advanced on a wild pitch, allowing Nieves-Markee to score and putting Moore on second. After Lang and Austin Arseneau walked, loading the bases, Daniel Rendon strolled up to the plate and rocketed a grand slam over the fence, giving Cairn a 7-3 lead. The homer was Rendon's career-first and in one swing he nearly doubled his RBI total for the season.

Over the next couple of innings, both teams notched a few runs until they found themselves all tied up at 8-8 heading into the sixth inning.

Jeremy McAlack got things rolling with a single followed by Caleb Moore reaching base on an error. The Highlanders would find themselves leading 11-8 after Caleb Lang blasted a three-run homerun, his second of the game and third of the season. Unfortunately, Cairn was unable to do any more damage to extend their lead.

Just a few outs away from tying the series with the Chargers, Cairn allowed a disastrous nine-run, six-hit bottom of the sixth, handing Lancaster Bible a 17-11 lead. Cairn did threaten to mount a comeback in the top of the seventh when they had bases loaded with two outs, but were unable to make the situation count.

Caleb Lang, Daniel Rendon, and Eric Hodges each went 2 for 4 with Lang and Rendon knocking in four RBIs. The latter two also nailed homeruns, with Rendon's a grand-slam and Lang recording two base-clearers. Lang also tallied four runs.

Cairn falls to 5-24 on the season.

This Friday, the Highlanders will host Marywood University to begin a three-game series with the Pacers. Cairn will make the trip up to Scranton, PA for the doubleheader return leg.
