Box Score
Aston, PA - With a 10-1 victory over the Highlanders, the Neumann Knights were able to complete a season sweep of Cairn following their two previous wins on Saturday.
In the defeat, the Highlanders were only able to register three hits from
Kenneth Searle,
Austin Arseneau, and
Luis Colon. With his lone hit, Arseneau earned an RBI, knocking in Searle in the top of the sixth inning for Cairn's only run.
A sign of improvement was the defense as the Highlanders previously gave up scores of 18 and 15 to the Knights. The score remained 0-0 until the bottom of the fourth inning when the host Knights batted in five runs, before building on their lead the preceedings innings.
Dean Diernbach started on the mound for Cairn, making his 13th appearance but only his 2nd start of the season. Diernbach lasted six innings, giving up eight runs and twelve hits.
Phil Knower,
Andrew Gordon, and
Josh Henry came in relief for Diernbach for the final two innings.
Cairn is 5-22 overall and 0-11 within the CSAC.
A doubleheader with non-conference Lancaster Bible College awaits on the horizon. Cairn and LBC split the regular season series with a win each before the Chargers prevailed 9-5 in the NCCAA East Region finals in 2012.
