Box Score

Langhorne, PA - The Highlanders hosted an old-foe in Kueka College on Thursday afternoon, bringing back an old rivalry from Cairn's time spent in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

The last time these two teams met, it was 2008 and they split the season series; Cairn winning 1-0 with Keuka taking the second game 3-2. There would be no second game or return trip this time around. It was a single non-conference match up with the winner taking all.

In keeping with past games, the game started off with neither team able to impose themselves. The first two innings went by with little action as the score remained 0-0 heading into the third inning. That's when the scoring started.

In the top of the third inning, following two walks and a single, the bases were loaded for Keuka's John Borchert who proceeded to blast a grand-slam, giving the Storm a 4-0 lead.

The Highlanders didn't get a grand-slam from anyone, but responded in-kind with four runs of thier own in the bottom of the third. With two outs,Chad Hollinger tripled to left center. After Jeremy McAlack walked, freshman Caleb Moore hit an RBI single, sending Hollinger home and McAlack to second. Kenneth Searle earned his team-leading 17th RBI with a single to center field, scoring McAlack. With runners on first and second, the Highlanders got their second triple of the inning, this one a two-run triple, from Caleb Lang tying the score at 4-4.

Keuka would take a 6-4 lead in the fourth inning and never relinquish the lead, scoring single runs in the fifth and sixth inning, before John Borchert's two-run homerun in the top of the ninth gave the Storm two insurance runs.

Cairn tallied solo runs in the fifth and eighth innings, but couldn't get any closer, falling 10-6.

Kennth Searle and Caleb Lang each registered two RBI's. Chad Hollinger went 3 for 4 on the day, scoring twice. Lang and Caleb Moore both earned two hits with Moore finishing 2 for 5 and Lang 2 for 4.

Cairn is now 5-19 heading into a three-game conference series against Neumann University this weekend.
