Auburndale, FL - The Highlanders played back-to-back games against Cazenovia College and Lesley University at the midway point of their Spring Break trip.
In the first game of the day, Cairn dropped an 8-5 decision to Cazenovia, dropping their record to 0-8.
Things would change for the better in the nightcap. Facing northeast opponent Lesley University, the Highlanders got hits from 8 different players helping them to their first win of the season, 6-5.
Michael DeLuca was on the mound for Cairn. DeLuca struckout four in 6 innings of work, allowing 6 hits and 4 earned runs.
Miller Del Castillo and
Dean Diernbach came in relief, with Diernbach getting credit for the save.

Austin Arseneau, and
Trent Fiori each led the team with 2 hits, while Arseneau recorded 2 RBI's and notched Cairn's first triple of the season.
Caleb Lang and
Jon Moore each logged doubles with their only hits of the game.
The Highlanders held a 4-0 after 3 innings before Lesley cut things to 4-2 in the top of the 4th. In the bottom of the 6th, Cairn restored its 4 run lead, pushing the lead to 6-2. Lesley threated a comeback after scoring 3 runs in the top of the 7th, but Del Castillo, Diernbach, and the Highlanders defense held firm for the 6-5 win.
With the win, Cairn improves to 1-8 on the season and will look to carry their momentum into tomorrows game against Vassar College.
