Lady Highlanders Fall in Season Tip-Off to Penn St.-Hazelton

Hartzler finished with 15 points in her debut
Box Score Langhorne, PA - Freshman Elizabeth Joy Hartzler dropped 15 points in her college debut, but it wasn't enough to overcome the visiting Lions of Penn St.-Hazelton in the women's basketball season opener.

Hartlzer scored 9 of her 15 points in the opening half and made five three-pointers on the night. Sophomore guard Amie Eppolito shot 2-for-4 from downtown on her way to an 11 point night. The 2nd year player also recorded a team-high 6 assists.

Emily Tambussi tallied 8 points and 8 rebounds for the Highlanders in the 82-33 defeat.

2nd year players Regina Younger and Brigid Shehan combined for 10 rebounds.

Hazelton had a pair of players finish with double-doubles as Alexis Daly finished with 25 points and 18 rebounds, while teammate Taylor Cannon had 23 points and 11 boards, helping the Nittany Lions to a 46-16 halftime lead before continuing to control proceeding in the second half, outscoring Cairn 36-17 in the second half.

While Cairn struggled from the floor in general, making only 26.5% of their shots, they did shoot an impressive 7-of-17 from beyond the arc, 41.2%.

In three days time, the Lady Highlanders will host Penn St.-Abington. Last season, Abington ran out 63-32.
