Cairn Suffers CSAC Loss

Radnor, PA - Cairn University's women's  basketball team traveled to Cabrini College on Saturday taking on their fellow conference opponents.

Throughout the game, the Cavaliers defensive pressure forced 30 Highlander turnovers, leading to 32 Cavalier points. This proved to be the biggest disparity between the two teams, with Cabrini only committing 13 turnovers. Both teams shot in the 30% range and Cabrini had only a 6 rebound advantage, but the Cavaliers took 23 more field-goal attempts thanks to turnovers.

The first ten minutes of the game saw host Cabrini dash out to an 18-3 lead before Cairn's offense began to cope with the Cavalier pressure. Cabrini held their 15 point lead going into halftime, 28-13.

The second half began on a positive note as the Highlanders drained three consecutive shots to reduced their deficit to only 9 points, 28-19. Cabrini responded by going on an 25-4 run over the next ten minutes. The 20+ margin would stay in place in the final eight minutes of the game as Cabrini cruised to a 61-37 win.

Cabrini's Brittany Sandone finished with a game-high 18 points and recorded 5 assists. Colleen Stewart logged 12 points and a share in a team-high 7 rebounds.

Hannah McCardle knocked down two 3-pt attempts on her way to a 15 point performance with 7 rebounds. Ruth Nelson had a game-high 11 rebounds. Amie Eppolito went 4-for-10 from the floor to finish with 8 points.

Cairn returns home on Monday to face non-conference opponents Trinity College at 7pm.
