Gwynedd Completes Saturday Sweep

GYWNEDD VALLEY, PA - Playing in their regular season finale Saturday afternoon, the Crimson Eagles couldn't pull off the upset, falling to Gwynedd-Mercy College for the second and third time in two days as the Griffins prevailed 12-3 and 4-0.

PBU did all of their offensive damage for the day during the fourth inning of the opening contest as the Crimson Eagles collected three runs on three hits for the frame.

Gwynedd countered though, overpowering the visitors with sixth runs in the sixth during the opening contest to bolster an ultimately insurmountable 12-3 edge.

With Dean Diernbach patrolling the mound during game two, PBU entered the bottom of the fifth deadlocked with a 0-0 score. However, the Griffins changed the course of the game with three scores in the stanza, eventually triumphing 4-0 as the Crimson Eagles were blanked for the sixth time this year.

Diernbach allowed just six hits in the losing effort.

With their regular season schedule complete, the baseball team will turn their attention to postseason play and will begin opening round action of the NCCAA National Tournament on Wednesday. Playing as the eighth seed, the Crimson Eagles go up against top-ranked Toccoa Falls College at 10:00 am during opening round action.
