MASON, OH - The Crimson Eagles were unable to slow down Manhattan Christian College Thursday afternoon during an 11-1 loss to the Crusaders. The defeat brings PBU's season to a close on day two of the NCCAA World Series Tournament.
PBU - playing as the eighth seed - logged their only score of the game during the bottom of the first inning, seizing a 1-0 edge in the process. However, Manhattan combated with two scores in the top of the second and broke the contest open in the fourth, exploding for seven runs to go up 10-1 by the time the fifth frame rolled around.
Managing just a single hit for the game, the Crimson Eagles were unable to respond the rest of the way. An additional score for the Crusaders helped push their edge to 11-1 as PBU was 10-runned for the second straight morning.
Manhattan bombed 11 hits for the contest and were gifted seven walks for the game in what signals the Crusaders' 10th win in their last 11 outings. Mike Sundholm was the only Crimson Eagle to generate a hit for the contest as the junior catcher recorded his third double of the tournament.
The Crimson Eagles close out the season with a 5-28 overall record.
