BROOKLYN, NY - For the second time in as many days, the baseball team allowed the opposition to score 12 runs. But somehow, both times, PBU mustered up enough offensive support to counter, with their most recent result coming in the form of a 26-12 triumph over Polytechnic University.
After scoring just 21 runs through their first 10 games of the season, the Crimson Eagles have beefed up their bats as of late, manufacturing 42 scores over their last three games.
On Thursday, PBU produced their greatest run total in nearly a decade as the visitors crossed the home cup 26 times on the afternoon thanks to a 22 hit performance.
After going scoreless during the opening two frames, the Crimson Eagles notched at least two runs over the next seven stanzas and had three innings where the group logged five or more scores.
Ahead 10-8 heading into the top of the sixth, PBU locked down on the defensive end, holding Polytechnic scoreless over the ensuing three frames while continuing their onslaught at the plate. The visitors pumped in 10 additional runs during the Blue Jay's dry spell, pushing their margin to 20-8 heading into the ninth inning.
Shawn Bramble was nearly unstoppable at the plate, coming up with five hits in the two spot while posting seven RBI's on the afternoon. Jon Sanville continued his torrid pace in the batter's box as well, sprinkling around four base hits in just five at bats. Ryan Eshleman and Mike Sundholm each manufactured three hits for the afternoon.
After going 0-10 to start the season, the Crimson Eagles have pulled out victories in two of their last three outings.
The group will look to keep their momentum rolling at home on Saturday against Baptist Bible College. Game one of the double header is set to begin at noon.
