LANGHORNE, PA - After a forgettable performance against Neumann University less than 24 hours ago, the Crimson Eagles responded with a pair of inspired outings but nevertheless were unable to overcome their counterpart Saturday afternoon.
In the opening contest, the Crimson Eagles were provided with a superb effort on the mound from Shawn Bramble as the junior lefty tossed a complete-game two hitter. However, despite the impressive showing, Nuemann ultimately prevailed 2-0 after scoring solo runs during the second and fifth innings.
PBU actually outperformed their counterpart at the plate - putting up three hits in the loss - but the Crimson Eagles were unable to put any runs on the board, marking the fourth time this year the squad's been shutout.
Nicholas Schnittjer paced the host group with a 2-for-2 effort at the plate.
In game two, Neumann's bats awoke as the visitors blasted 16 hits during a 12-1 win during the nightcap. Minus the third frame, the Knights scored runs during six of seven stanzas in what marks their ninth win in 11 tries.
The Crimson Eagles scored a single run during the bottom of the first to lock things at one-apiece thanks to two of the squad's three hits for the game in the frame.
However, it would be all the group would be able to muster at the plate as PBU recorded just one single the rest of the way.
Ryan Eshleman paced the Crimson Eagles with two hits in three tries at the dish, knocking in the squad's lone RBI for the game as well.
The baseball team will return to action on the road Sunday afternoon, taking on Keystone College at 3:00 pm.
