LANGHORNE, PA - A late push wasn't enough during a 12-6 loss to Immaculata University Tuesday afternoon as the Crimson Eagles were subdued by the Mighty Macs for the third time in two days.
What began as a defensive affair turned into anything but as both squads did all of their damage at the dish from the fourth inning on.
Locked at nil-nil heading into the bottom of the fourth, Immaculata erupted for five runs during the one-sided stanza using five hits, two steals, and a Crimson Eagle blunder to blow open the previously deadlocked game.
The Crimson Eagles responded two innings later by logging two scores of their own, but the Mighty Macs countered by drilling PBU with four additional scores during the bottom of the frame.
Down 9-2 heading into the eighth, the Crimson Eagles crossed home plated four times to bring the contest within three runs. But another three scores from the Mighty Macs during the bottom of the inning helped Immaculata erase any hope of a PBU comeback.
Mike Sundholm put up a 3-for-4 effort at the plate while Ryan Eshleman, Chad Hollinger, and Jon Sanville each collected two hits.
PBU will take a two day break before returning to the field on Friday during a road contest with Neumann University. Game time is 3:00 pm.
