PHOENIXVILLE, PA - The baseball team dropped a pair of road games to Valley Forge Christian College Tuesday afternoon as the Patriots upended PBU 11-3 and 8-5.
After taking a 1-0 lead in the opening contest, the Crimson Eagles were blasted during the bottom of the second inning. Shackled with two errors, three free passes to first, and five Valley Forge singles, the Patriots crossed the plated seven times in the stanza.
PBU responded with a two run frame during the top of the third, but the host group managed to tack on three additional scores during the bottom of the inning to go up 10-3. Valley added one more insurance score during the bottom of the fourth as the Crimson Eagles were blanked the final four stanzas.
Shawn Bramble finished 2-for-4 in the loss while Jeremy McAlack, Austin Arseneau, and Ryan Eshleman each chipped in with a hit.
During game two, the Patriots jumped out to a 5-0 edge during the bottom of the first, sprinkling five singles throughout the frame. After a single score by PBU in the third following a Jon Sanville single and a Bramble double, Valley responded with three runs over their following two plate series, ballooning their margin to 8-1.
The Crimson Eagles finally managed a surge on the offensive front during the sixth and seventh frames, scoring four runs while drilling six hits. However, despite their most hits in a game to-date this year, the visitors ran out of time as Valley held on for the three run victory in the nightcap.
Bramble posted three hits and three RBIs and Arseneau and Sanville both chipped in with two singles.
PBU falls to 0-8 with the pair of defeats.
The group will continue their search for the winning column on Friday during a home date with Marywood University. Game time against the Pacers is 3:00 pm.
