Baseball Squad Drops Pair to Keystone

LANGHORNE, PA - Keystone College used a pair of 16 run outburts in back-to-back games against the Crimson Eagles Saturday to lock up consecutive victories against PBU.

In the opening contest, the Giants sprayed around 14 hits and received six free passes en route to their first 16-run explosion. The visitors tallied nine runs in the second inning alone, building up a 14-0 cushion by the bottom of the third.

PBU struggled to get going on the offensive end as Keystone's Jeff Frost nearly threw a gem, allowing just a solo hit from the Crimson Eagles through seven innings of work on the mound. Chad Hollinger proved to be the spoiler as the second year outfielder posted PBU's lone hit of the contest during the bottom of the seventh.

The Crimson Eagles didn't help their own cause, logging seven errors in their first CSAC game of the season, a number made even more difficult to bear when compared with zero for Keystone.

A 12-run inning in game two that saw the Giants bat around the order - twice - helped the visitors notch their second straight 16 run effort.

However, PBU had help on the offensive end due to some control issues from Keystone's pitching staff as the Crimson Eagles walked nine times during the bout.

Three free passes and two hits during the bottom of the fourth helped the home group get on the scoreboard for the first time on the day as PBU registered two runs in the frame.

A single tally in the bottom of the seventh made the final count 16-3 by the time the final pitch had been tossed.

Ryan Eshleman and Jon Sanville both tallied a solo hit during the game two loss.

The Crimson Eagles will return to the field on Tuesday in Phoenixville, taking on host Valley Forge Christian College in a doubleheader, beginning at noon.
