Cumberlands Makes it Three Straight Over PBU

WILLIAMSBURG, KY - The University of the Cumberlands collected their third triumph in two days against the Crimson Eagles Thursday afternoon, downing their visitors from the north, 10-2.

Locked 0-0 after one and a half innings, the Patriots did some damage in the bottom of the second, ripping off three scores in the stanza. The host group kept the pressure on in the third, crossing the plate two additional times before putting the game all-but out of reach in the fourth with a five run outburst.

The Crimson Eagles countered in the third with a score of their own and tacked on an additional run in the eighth, but with only four hits on the afternoon, PBU's offense stalled for the majority of the day.

The University of the Cumberlands sprinkled around 11 hits throughout the nine innings of play and were aided by four PBU blunders on the defensive end.

Coming in during the fifth as a relief hurler, Kyle Martin tossed four innings while allowing just four hits, a solo walk, and no scores from the circle.

Rookie shortstop Austin Arseneau scored both of the Crimson Eagles' runs on the afternoon, adding a solo hit to his statline in the leadoff spot. Chad Hollinger, Mike Sundholm, and Jon Sanville each provided a solo knock.

PBU slips to 0-3 on the year following Thursday's contest.

The group will return home for a bout with Purchase College next Tuesday at 3:00 pm.
