HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – Host Centenary College jumped out to a quick start Tuesday evening and never looked back as one of the most potent offenses in the country buried the Crimson Eagles, 90-38.
Ranked 13th in the nation in scoring, the Cyclones used their up-tempo approach to sprint out to a 50-13 edge following the opening 20 minutes of play. Centenary knocked down 52.9 percent of their field goal looks for the game en route to their sixth 90-plus scoring effort of the season.
The host group controlled nearly every statistical category, winning the battle in the paint (46-18), fast break points (18-2), and points off of turnovers (37-11). The Cyclones also constructed a 40-20 edge in total rebounds throughout the affair, a number that included 21 snags off the offensive glass.
Following an uninspired opening frame that saw the Crimson Eagles hit just four total field goals, the visitors picked up their intensity during the back end of play but nevertheless struggled to slow down Centenary's powerful offense that ended the contest up 18 in second chance points.
PBU managed to improve their shooting percentage to 37.5 during the second stanza and were able to up their scoring to 25 points throughout the back end of play. But 27 turnovers for the contest once again proved to be too much to overcome for the Crimson Eagles in their eighth straight loss.
Careth Herron led PBU with 11 points and Haley Weber added seven.
The Crimson Eagles will return to action this Thursday taking on Cedar Crest College on the road at 7:00 pm.
