Bramble Tosses No Hitter; PBU Falls in Title Match

Box Score - Valley Forge Christian College
Box Score - Lancaster Bible College

LANCASTER, PA -
Shawn Bramble threw a no hitter during PBU's opening game Saturday to help lift the Crimson Eagles over Valley Forge Christian College, but PBU's season was ended during the follow-up Championship bout Saturday as the group lost a heartbreaker to Lancaster Bible College, 7-6.

Bramble threw seven scoreless innings against a helpless Patriot club that failed to register a single hit for the contest. With an offensive performance that served as their best of the year, the Crimson Eagles exploded for 18 scores during the game - their most lopsided triumph in well over two full years.

Striking out eight while walking just two, Bramble shut down a Patriot group that had split games with PBU during the regular season. PBU notched 12 runs during the sixth inning offensively during the win, registering 19 hits and six walks for the day during 23 at bats.

Mike Sundholm went five for six from the plate with three RBI's and two runs scored, and both Jayson Hernandez and Shawn Bramble tallied four hits during the Crimson Eagles' fourth triumph of the season.

With the win advancing PBU into the NCCAA East Region Championship, the Crimson Eagles couldn't quite skirt past top seeded host Lancaster Bible College as the Chargers held on for a 7-6 victory to secure their second straight regional crown.

Scoring four runs during the top of the second to go ahead 4-2, PBU allowed three scores during the bottom of the stanza to go down one. But a two run third inning put the Crimson Eagles up 6-5 with four innings left.

The Chargers responded one inning later, tallying two runs sparked by a trio of hits and a combo of wild pitches from the red and white. It would be all either team would manage the rest of the way.

Caleb Reimer logged a three for four performance in the loss while Justin Brubaker finished three for three in the batters box.

PBU finishes the season with a final record of 4-27.
