Aston, PA – The Crimson Eagles struggled to shut down a blazing Neumann offense Sunday afternoon as the Knights erupted for 40 total runs during the weekend double-header.
Neumann managed a 16-2 truimph over PBU in the first outing as Knight pitcher Scott Hammell allowed just a single score in six innings of work. The host squad jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first, notching five runs in the opening stanza to break open a 5-0 lead while adding three additional scores in the second to go ahead 8-0.
The Crimson Eagles would reverse the fortunes early in game two, securing an early 3-0 edge in what ended up as PBU's only lead of the afternoon. Neumann eventually pounded out eight runs in the top of the first to garner a five run lead and would stretch the edge to 14-3 in the bottom of the second.
The Knights would pump out one additional multi-score inning before all was said and done, ringing in seven scores in the bottom of the sixth to run away with an eventual 24-7 triumph.
The Crimson Eagles fall to 0-12 on the year while Neumann improves to14-13 overall.
PBU will get another crack at Neumann this Tuesday in another make-up game, this time squarring off in Langhorne. The opening toss is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
