Purchase slips by in offensive explosion

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA
- The good news is the baseball team's bats finally got going.

The bad news?

So did the opponent's.

Purchase College blasted home 30 runs in a 30-17 triumph over the Crimson Eagles Monday afternoon. The visitors belted 27 hits for the game and received a free pass to first base on 14 different occasions.

Despite stranding 17 runners for the game, Purchase made sure to capitalize during the top of the third when the team batted around the order - twice. The Perseus scored 14 times in a forgettable stanza for the Crimson Eagles, breaking open a 4-1 lead into a seemingly 18-1 route.

But six runs in the fourth from the Crimson Eagles and another six scores in the seventh would pull PBU to within 19-14. Unfortunately another seven run inning from Purchase in the eighth would ultimately seal the deal.

The host squad managed a season high 17 hits for the game in the near four hour contest, led by three knocks apiece from Shawn Bramble, Tom Fenwick, Mike Sunholm, and Kyle Martin.

The Crimson Eagles will return to the field tomorrow when the team goes up against Neumann College on the road. Game time for the single contest is slated for 3:30 pm.
