Hitting drought slows Crimson Eagles

Box Score - Game 1

Hackettstown, NJ
- It's tough to win ball games if you don't cross home plate.

Unfortunately, that's exactly the scenario that struck the Crimson Eagles Saturday afternoon as the team came up empty against Centenary College through two games. The Cyclones managed wins of 6-0 and 13-0 over visiting PBU.

The Crimson Eagles collected just seven total hits through the two contests, ultimately getting outslugged by the host squad by a final margin of 28-7 for the afternoon.

Centenary knocked in at least one score in five out of six innings during the first matchup as rookie hurler Mike Sundholm allowed just 11 hits during PBU's first complete game pitching performance of the season.

Game two was somewhat of a different story as the Cyclones jumped out to a 5-0 edge in the opening inning, paving the way to what ended up as their second shutout  triumph of the day against the Crimson Eagles.

Sophomore Matt Betts and senior Tom Fenwick each posted two hits for the afternoon.

The Crimson Eagles will take a break from CSAC action on Wednesday as the group will take on Haverford College on the road at 3:30 pm.
