Valley Forge takes two in Langhorne

Box Score - Game 1
Box Score - Game 2

Langhorne, PA - It's been over six years since the Patriots of Valley Forge Christian College have managed to upend the Crimson Eagle baseball squad.

On Tuesday, the Patriots managed to erase the recent trend.

Twice.

The Crimson Eagles struggled to get stops when needed, surrendering 28 runs through two games against a squad that had produced just one double-digit scoring entering Tuesday's affair.

PBU watched Valley Forge rip off 12 hits in their opening game against the Patriots and - despite leaving eight runners stranded - the visitors managed to notch 16 runs through the seven inning ballgame that included a six score output in the bottom of the second.

The Crimson Eagles were plagued with nine runners left on during an outing that saw eight PBU batters strike out. Eight errors didn't help PBU's efforts as the defensive blunders proved too much to overcome despite a torrid first inning in which the Crimson Eagles crossed home plate five times.

Game two was a back and forth battle until the bottom of the fourth when the Patriots exploded for six scores in the stanza. Despite getting outhit 10-7 for the game, Valley Forge pulled off their second consecutive victory behind eight crucial walks that proved to be the difference.

The Crimson Eagles slip to 0-2 with the pair of losses while the Patriots improve to 3-9.

PBU will continue action in Langhorne on Friday against Centenary College at 3:00 pm and will play the Cyclones again on Saturday on the road at noon.
