Two time defending PAC champs spoil home opener

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA
- Gwynedd-Mercy College played the spoiler Friday afternoon, routing PBU 21-1 in the Crimson Eagles' first home showing of the year.

The Griffins - a team that is coming off back-to-back conference championships - showed why they are among the East Region's best, flexing their offensive aptitude by scoring a season high 21 runs against PBU.

Gwynedd  pounded out 25 hits on the evening and used a torrid pitching performance from senior hurler Sean Middleton to help roll in their ninth triumph of the season. Middleton went five strong innings, allowing just two hits and no walks while fanning eight of 17 batters.

PBU tallied their lone score of the game in the bottom of the eight, marking the first time through two outings the Crimson Eagles have crossed home plate.

Rookie right fielder Shawn Bramble led the way once again for PBU on the offensive end, registering two hits and PBU's single score in four at bats.

The Crimson Eagles slip to 0-2 with the loss while the Griffins move to 9-6 overall.

PBU will get another crack at Gwynedd as the two schools will square off once again tomorrow afternoon in a doubleheader. Game one will kick-off at noon in Gwynedd-Valley, PA.
