PBU Overcome by Cyclones on Senior Night

LANGHORNE, PA - It is often said that how a team bounces back from adversity shows their true colors and the effort Coach Drew Watson saw from his team tonight had to make him happy.

Coming off their worst loss of the season, a 31-point drubbing by Eastern University on Wednesday, the Crimson Eagles came back strong, giving Centenary College a run but ultimately losing, 63-53. The Cyclones, who had already locked up the CSAC's North Division Championship and had soundly beaten PBU just a month ago, were playing to lock up the third seed in the upcoming CSAC Playoffs.

The Cyclones took control of a sloppy game early and at one point it looked like they were on their way to another lopsided victory as they took a 27-12 lead. The Crimson Eagles came roaring back, however, going on a 15-6 run to end the half, closing the gap to 33-27 at the break.

The first few minutes of the second half were key for the Cyclones as they extended their lead to 13 and were threatening to blow open the game. PBU's stingy defense wouldn't allow that to happen though, eventually getting the Crimson Eagles as close as 7 with 5:25 to go.  That was the closest the home squad would get as they finally ran out of time.

Dani Norton and Summer Mullen each scored 16 points for PBU, with Norton adding 10 rebounds. Lindsey Fornwalt added 10 points and 7 rebounds. Kristen Camuso led all scorers with 22 points for the Cyclones while Leah Murphy added 11 points and Nikki Van Tassel chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The Crimson Eagles now prepare to enter the NCCAA II East Region Tournament as the #1 seed and will host #4 seed Davis College on Wednesday night at 6:00 PM.

The Cyclones (#3) will host Cedar Crest College (#6) Monday night in the opening round of the CSAC Playoffs with the winner facing #2 Gwynedd-Mercy College on Wednesday night in the semi-finals.
