Crimson Eagles dominate second half

Generate first win in nearly a month

ALLENTOWN, PA - The field hockey team used a dominating second half performance to earn their first win in nearly a month.

The Crimson Eagles received three goals in the second stanza of play to overcome Cedar Crest College 3-0 early Thrusday afternoon. The victory gives PBU its third of the season and gives the team its greatest margin of victory on the year.

Despite getting outshot 12-0, the Falcons managed to hold the Crimson Eagles scoreless through the first period. However, PBU finally got on the board late in the game when junior Bethany Hill scored 51:20 into the contest, and sophomore Rebecca Gill followed up with her third goal of the year only 31 seconds later to put the Crimson Eagles up 2-0. Senior back LeeAnn Marchesi scored for the first time this year and completed the 3-0 sweep for PBU by putting in the team's third goal of the game with less than three minutes to play.

The Crimson Eagles managed to control the majority of the game and only allowed Cedar Crest to get off four total shots. PBU registered 20 shots in the winning effort.

The contest marks PBU's first shut out win of the 2007 campaign and improves the team's overall record to 3-14. The Falcons are still searching for their first victory this year and fall to 0-15 with the loss.

The field hockey team will continue their schedule two days from now when they travel to Immaculata to play at 1:00 pm on Saturday.
