LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn University Men's Basketball Team has earned the No. 3 seed in the 2026 United East Men's Basketball Championship. Kicking off for the Highlanders on Saturday February 21st at home against Penn State Abington with a 1 p.m. tip off.
THE FIELD:
Lancaster Bible College (11-2) secures the 1st seed with their final regular season win over Penn State Harrisburg with a score of 77-54. Penn State Bradywine (11-2) takes the 2nd seed after their 74-68 win over St Mary's. Cairn (11-2) finished the regular season with a dominant 104-65 win over Penn State Berks to secure the 3rd seed. Penn State Harrisburg's (10-3) loss to Lancaster Bible College dropped them into the 4th seed position. Notre Dame of Maryland (10-3) follows up with the 5th seed. Penn State Abington (6-7) takes the 6th seed to face Cairn with St Mary's taking the 7th seed to face the 10th seed Keystone College (4-9). 8th seed Wilson College (5-8) and 9th seed Penn State Berks (5-8) will kick off the post season action Wednesday the 17th.
OUR TEAM:
The Cairn Men's basketball team ends the regular season with a record of 19-6, ending 11-2 in conference play behind a dominant starting 5 of graduate guard Corey Baldwin (Henderson, NC / Averett), graduate guard Jaylon Simpson (Atlanta, GA / Belmont Abbey), graduate guard Chris Hill (Charlotte, NC / Saint Augustine's University), graduate guard Ron Ayers (Prince George's County, MD / Stevenson University) and Sr forward Andre Burrell, Jr. (Philadelphia, PA / Burlington Co. Institute of Technology). Simpson lead the team in ppg with 20.2, while Baldwin had a 3pt percentage of .416 and dominated the boards, averaging 7.6 rebounds per game. Hill was the playmaker of the team, having 89 assists throughout the season. Ayers added his mid-range with a shooting percentage of .419 and free throw percentage of .871.
THE MATCHUP:
Cairn will host No. 6 Penn state Abington on Saturday the 21st at 1pm. The last time these two teams met, Cairn came out on top after a final score of 104-83. In that game, Ayers led the team in scoring with 22 points, adding 2 steals and 4 rebounds to that stat line. In their last 4 meetings, Cairn holds the advantage at 3-1 as they seek to up that to 4 wins this weekend.
