MBB: Cairn Celebrates 10 Seniors Before Season Finale Against Penn State Berks

Langhorne, PA – Cairn picks up win on Senior Day

Before the game the Highlanders honored their 10 graduating seniors on the roster this season.

Cairn (19-6 / 11-2 UNITED EAST) started the game by trading baskets with Penn State Berks (6-18 / 5-8 UNITED EAST) reaching an 8-8 score behind a quick 5 points by graduate guard Ron Ayers (Prince George's County, MD / Stevenson University). Cairn took control of the half from that point, with graduate guards Jaylon Simpson (Atlanta, GA / Belmont Abbey) and Corey Baldwin (Henderson, NC / Averett) each contributing multiple baskets to push the Highlanders out to a 39-19 lead. Another strong burst from Cairn to close out the quarter pushed the lead to 54-30 entering halftime.

More strong play from Simpson and graduate guard Chris Hil (Charlotte, NC / Saint Augustine's University) helped the Highlanders to continue extending the lead in the second half reaching 88-51. Senior guard Liam Carey (Ottsville, PA / Palisades) knocked down 2 consecutive triples for Cairn to push the lead out to 94-51. Senior forward Kevin McNicholas(Blairstown, NJ / William Paterson) continued the Highlander run by converting on a basket in the paint to continue extending the lead out. Cairn kept pouring it on until the final whistle and won by a final score of 104-65.

Cairn will begin the United East Conference Championship by hosting Penn State Abington in the quarter final round on Saturday February 21 at 1 PM.
