Cairn Finishes 5th in 2024-25 President's Cup Scoring

LATHAM, NY – The United East Conference released final standings for the 2024-25 President's Cup on Thursday morning with Cairn Athletic finishing fifth overall and sixth in both the men's and women's scoring.

The Presidents' Cup is designed to recognize the athletic achievements of its members annually. The conference also distributes other two major awards, including Top Overall Athletic Program Women's Teams and Men's Teams. The Presidents' Cup is determined by a scoring system which rewards a school for success during both regular season and postseason competition. 

Cairn finished fifth overall as an athletic program, one place higher than their sixth-place finish in 2024-25, the first season competing in the United East. Cairn Women's Cross Country led all Highlander programs with 13 points as Men's Soccer was next with 11.5. 

Points are determined in team sports by teams that make the postseason being awarded points corresponding to seeding, with the top seed earning 12 points, second seed 11 points, etc. The highest point total determined by number of teams that make the postseason. Additionally, one bonus point is awarded for each victory in the post season. In individual sports, the top 12 teams to finish are awarded points with the top finishing program earning 12 points, second finishing team five points, etc. and the highest point total determined by number of teams that make the postseason. Bonus points are the awarded to the top three teams to finish (3-2-1).
