MEDIA CREDENTIALS & POLICIES
Credentials for access to the playing surface for Cairn home games as well as media gatherings are issued to professional working media only and should be requested as early as possible due to potential space limitations and demand. To apply for credentials, please submit a request via the Cairn Athletic Communications Credential Request Form.
Media organizations covering Cairn Athletics and the visiting institution on a regular basis, as well as personnel from visiting institution will receive top priority. Requests should be made at least 48 hours in advance of each home contest or media event. Season passes will be provided prior to the season for all those who cover the Highlanders throughout the entire season. Other credentials, as well as all photography credentials, will be issued on a game-by-game basis.
Media credentials are issued solely to the individual named. Credentials may not be transferred or used by any other person. Acceptance of a media credential requires compliance with all Cairn University, Cairn Athletics, and United East Conference rules and regulations applicable to the media credential. Any breach or failure to comply with these terms, conditions, rules and/or regulations may result in the cancellation and withdrawal of the media credential, including but not limited to expulsion from the athletics event for which it was issued, and denial of a media credential for any and all future athletics events. Credentials and working space for media members are issued at the exclusive discretion of the Cairn University Athletics Communications Office.Â
General Policies
- Flash photography is not permitted at any time for the protection of our student-athletes and officials.
- All credentials must be picked up from the scorer's table (indoor) or press box (outdoor) no less than 10 minute prior to scheduled start time and returned to the same place after the contest's completion
- Personnel with access passes (for creative media, video, photography) are to apply for passes specific to their role. Passes shall be distributed in accordance with the above with that role adhered to.
- i.e. "Photography Only" may not take video and vice versa.
- Cairn Athletic Communications Office reserves the right to deny pass access for photography when an employee photographer is present.
- Cairn University, including the Cairn Athletic Communications Office, exclusively owns the rights to all media captured at each athletic event by credentialed media personnel and is subject to the review of the Assistant Athletic Director prior to disseminating, using, or storing.
- Amateur photographers do not need to request a media credential for shooting from fan areas (the confines of the bleachers, stands, etc.) unless doing so will obstruct the viewing experience.
- Requests of an academic nature should be made to jjohnson@cairn.edu directly with detail on the nature of assignment and purpose.
- Cairn Athletics is not responsible for damages to personal equipment or persons failing to comply with the above policy nor for the negligence surrounding flying objects which are by nature apart sporting events. Pass holders assume all risk involved by remaining in proximity of active play with flying objects.
- RECEIPT AND USE OF CAIRN ATHLETICS ACCESS PASS SHALL CONSTITUTE AGREEMENT TO COMPLY WITH THIS POLICY. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THE TERMS DESCRIBED HEREIN MAY SUBJECT THE PASS HOLDER TO FUTURE CANCELLATION, WITHDRAWAL, AND/OR EXPULSION.
- Cairn Athletics reserves the right to amend or make exceptions to this policy at any time as well as to deny credentials for any reason.Â

Mason Activity Center
Volleyball - Credentialed personnel may position themselves adjacent to the scorers' table and behind affiliated bench area(s). Credentialed personnel may not position themselves along either endline of the playing surface as that is an active playing area. Credentials personnel may not enter the playing surface (inside the black outline of the court) during gameplay nor at any time take a position on any painted surface. Credentialed personnel without table access may not remain in the area behind the scorer's table. Athletic Communications staff have the right to restrict credentialed media personnel to specific areas on the court/out of bounds.The position of credentialed personnel shall not conflict with applicable ground rules or orders of an official.
Basketball - Credentialed personnel may position themselves adjacent to the scorers' table or along either endline of the playing surface outside of the black painted area. Credentials personnel may not enter the playing surface (inside the black outline of the court) during gameplay nor at any time take a position on any painted surface. Credentialed personnel without table access may not enter the area behind the scorer's table. Athletic Communications staff have the right to restrict credentialed media personnel to specific areas on the court/out of bounds.The position of credentialed personnel shall not conflict with applicable ground rules or orders of an official.
G. Patrick Stillman Athletic Complex
Turf Field - Credentialed personnel may enter the playing surface at any gate but must remain outside of the white soccer boundary line at all times. Non-playing personnel should avoid the areas behind either goal due to the imminent danger of an off-target shot. Credentialed personnel are to remain on the press box side of the field on the sideline and up to the nearest goalposts to the press box, avoiding the bench areas while the game is ongoing. Credentialed personnel are not to interfere with gameday or athletic communications on-field staff. Athletic Communications staff have the right to restrict credentialed media personnel to specific areas on the field. The position of credentialed personnel shall not conflict with applicable ground rules or orders of an official.
Baseball Field- Credentialed personnel may position themselves around the backstop, on/above either dugout, and down the foul lines in foul territory outside the fence as well as through the gate in centerfield. Credentialed personnel may enter the field and remain in the media boxes at the end of each dugout, but should not leave or enter those positions during active play. The position of credentialed personnel shall not conflict with applicable ground rules or orders of an umpire.

Softball Field- Credentialed personnel may position themselves around the backstop, on the side of either dugout, and down the foul lines in foul territory outside the fence as well as through the gates in the outfield. Credentialed personnel may enter the field and remain at the end of the dugouts or bullpens but should not leave or enter those position during active play. The position of credentialed personnel shall not conflict with applicable ground rules or orders of an umpire.
Credentials will be issued only to accredited media photographers who regularly cover the Highlanders. Photo credentials must be requested at least 48 hours in advance of each home game. For any media requests or further information please contact
