Men's Volleyball Concludes Season On The Road

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Langhorne, PA- The Highlanders men's volleyball team went on the road this weekend to wrap up their season.  Unfortunately, Cairn was unable to end in style as the Highlanders fell to both Thiel College and Juniata College.

Box Score (Thiel- Coming Soon)

Box Score (Juniata- Coming Soon)

In the Highlanders first match against the Tomcats of Thiel College, Cairn was handily defeated, losing in straight sets.  Perhaps worn down by a long season filled with a great amount of traveling, Cairn could not find any type of groove against Thiel Friday night.  Josiah Buss continued his excellent play down the stretch of the season, as the undersized junior proved able to hold his own as an outside hitter against any competition.  Buss and the high-flying Randall Colson tied for kills against Thiel as both tallied eight.  Junior Matthew Rhodes, stepping very nicely into his role as the libero, led the team in digs totaling seven on the night.

Cairn ended the season on a tough note as the Highlanders faced off against the number one ranked team in the nation, Juniata College.  After a tough first set that saw the Highlanders lose 25-11 Cairn rallied back, taking Juniata to the wire in each of the next two sets but ultimately surrendering to the nation's top team.  Buss and Rhodes once again led the Highlanders in kills and digs as the pair accumulated nine kills and eight digs respectively.  Jon Wilson and Ryan Garven also contributed solid showings as Wilson dished out twenty-two assists and seven digs while Garven smashed six kills.

The Highlanders conclude their 2014 campaign with a record of 10-16.  Despite another losing season the Highlanders have hope for the future as they only graduate two players from this years squad.
