3rd seeded Cairn (11-21 / 6-3 UNITED EAST) jumped out to an early lead in the first set going up 4-1 over Neumann (5-14 / 3-6 UNITED EAST). The Knights responded with a run of their own taking a 6-5edge over the Highlanders. The two teams then traded blows going back and forth until Cairn took a 22-21 lead. The Highlanders controlled the final 3 points to take the set capping off the opening frame with an ace by junior outside hitter

The second set saw the Highlanders come out of the gate on fire. Senior setter
Josh Adler (Levittown, PA / Neshaminy High School) got things started with an ace on the first point. Cairn followed this up with a pair of blocks to go up 3-0 before Adler rattled off 3 consecutive aces to give the Highlanders a comfortable 6-0 lead to start the set. Cairn maintained a choke hold on the set, building and keeping a double digit lead over the Knights. Cairn claimed the second set 25-10.
The third and final set began with the two teams exchanging points while trying to find early momentum. The Highlanders took the reigns at 6-6 when they scored 6 straight points, including a pair of kills by Poirier. Neumann respond with a pair of points before Cairn went on another run, this time scoring 5 straight behind 2 kills by freshman opposite
Nehemiah Clark (Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea Ukarumpa International School). The Knights battled back cutting the lead down to 22-18 but Cairn regained control and closed out the set 25-20 to secure their spot in the semi-final round of the United East Conference Championship.
